Pediatric and Teen Wellness

Acupuncture, herbal and holistic Traditional Chinese Medicine remedies for your babies, young children and teens  is a tried, true and gentle natural method of healing.

Between birth and the teen years children are growing rapidly in mind, body and spirit. The rapid pace of growth can be stressful.  My goal is to support both parent and child in these transitions with the many wonderful tools available in Traditional Chinese and Functional Nutritional Medicine.

Pediatric Tui Na (pronounced twee nah) is an ancient massage technique for children which aids their bodies in expelling pathogens, and helps to build strong immune systems.  Read more about Charlotte’s services in this specialty.

As children’s immune systems are growing and developing, the proper diet and nutritional support is of major importance. Children’s growing intestinal systems (a integral  part of the immune function) are adapting to new foods and the tendency to eat a lot of those foods to keep up with their rapid growth rate —acupuncture, acupressure and herbal medicine help support children in maintaining healthy digestion in order to experience the optimal nutritional benefit and stay in healthy balance.  In Traditional Chinese Medicine The Digestive Process being healthy and strong is integral to the rest of our organ systems functioning optimally.  What better time to assure that this process is strong and healthy then in childhood — good habits and methods of support then extend into the teen years and adulthood.

Acupuncture is not used as often as Tui Na, acupressure and herbal medicine for children  5 to 7 years old, however at times needles are used in a very gentle fashion – inserted and removed immediately to provide extra support.  See testimonials.

Teenagers love and benefit from acupuncture in so many ways.  Acupuncture helps balance male and female hormone cycles, and when teens are first navigating new hormone fluctuations it can feel intense for both teens and their parents!  Acupuncture helps teens unwind and relax, supporting them in the intense demands of the middle and high school years.  Read Acupuncture for Teens Blog

Here’s a personal acupuncture account from Isabel Luecke, a lovely accomplished teen writer who frequently visits our clinic and would like to share her experience with our peeps:

“It was just the other day that, suffering from both writer’s block and the carpal tunnel that was the symptom of not having writers block, that I went to get acupuncture. This had not been my first visit and, unless I suddenly end up living solely in a survivalist bunker, it will not be my last. I use acupuncture to treat everything from colds to skin blemishes, to re-inspire and relax. It is truly something that I whole-heartedly recommend for people of all ages.”

Gracie, age 13 who also comes regularly for acupuncture says . . . “I have been going to Charlotte for acupuncture for a few months to work on relaxation for anxiety. I like it because it is relaxing and helps me get a grip on life.  It doesn’t hurt at all.  I love it!
